Anton Schilbach (*1998) is a German Scenographer and Designer.
Born and raised in Leipzig, Germany, I moved to Leeds, West Yorkshire in 2016, at the tender age of 17, to study fine Art and Design at Leeds College of Art. I graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in July 2022 with a Ba(hons) in Performance Design. Since graduating I have been assisting multiple Designers for shows in the UK and beyond. I am currently self employed.
"Through model making, I explore the infinite possibilities of stage and screen. The effect of light in film, performance (particularly Opera) and spatial design excites me and I enjoy incorporating it in my proposed designs. I strongly believe in the idea that every performance has, and should have, the potential of catapulting the viewer out of their everyday life and into the magic of narrative. Design is the key to create an environment for that. The compositional nature of design work and the notion of "Gesamtkunstwerk" (Richard Wagner 1813-1883) excites me intensely and ties in with my background in classical music."
